VENICE/ROME 2022 ITINERARY

VENICE

       All late afternoons and evenings free.

       Everyday ready at 9 am

• FRI 23 SEPT: Flights from Johannesburg to Venice Marco Polo
• ARRIVE SAT 24 SEPT (aim for arrival 13.25): Alilaguna (water taxi) from airport to accommodation; settling in and scouting around. 
• SUN 25  SEPT: Palazzo Grassi (Marlene Dumas); Peggy Guggenheim Museum (Surrealism and Magic);  Gallerie  dell’Accademia (Anish Kapoor); Rialto
• MON 26 SEPT: Dorsoduro, Punta della Dogana (Francois Pinault Collection); Bruce Nauman; Dorsoduro (Future Generation Art Prize), Palazzo Contarini dal Zaffo Polignac
• TUES 27 SEPT: 59th PALAIS DUCALE (Gothic Doge Palace), Anselm Kiefer, San Marco Basilica. Procuratie      Vecchie (Louise Nevelson); Ocean Space (Diane Policarpo & Dineo Bopape).
• WED 28 SEPT: 59th     Venice Biennale, Giardini
• THURS 29 SEPT: 59th Venice Biennale,  Arsenale (SA Pavillion)
• FRI 30 SEPT: Day trip to the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello
• SAT 1 OCT:     MORE GALLERIES ND EXHIBITIONS/FREE DAY (shopping? Lido?)

ROME

• SUN 2 OCT:  Bus departs 9.35 AM, 8 min walk from apartments to San Marco/Zaccaria ACTV,      ACTV to Tronchetto. Flixbus to Rome from TRONCHETTO. Lunch Bologna and transfer.      Arrive Rome 6.15pm. Taxi to guest house to arrive before 9pm
• MON 3 OCT:  Frutta Gallery, Kentridge mural; Larcan O’Neill; Monitor; Crazy exhibition,      Chiostro del Bramante
• TUES 4 OCT:  Vatican and the Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo's magnificent ceiling      paintings and other Italian masters
• WED 5 OCT: Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Colosseum
• 6 OCT: Return from Rome (Fiomicino) to Johannesburg, shuttle bus from Termini Station
